Mozilla Hive NYC is partnering with the 13th annual Games for Change Festival, which includes workshops and talks from a cross-section of thought leaders from academia, government, gaming, edtech, and social innovation. This year’s Festival features three tracks of programming: Games for Learning, Health & Neuroscience, and Civics & Social Issues. Register here.

Overview

The Games for Change Festival offers two days of keynotes, panels, networking events, workshops, and arcades. Don’t miss sessions with legendary game designer Sid Meier (Civilization series), the secretive augmented-reality startup Magic Leap, Minecraft, Google, the Girl Scouts, and many more. See mold-breaking games about healing, climate change, mental health, nuclear weapons, politics, humor, and beyond.

During this year’s Summit, presented by the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) with further support from Microsoft, explore how games are transforming education and redesigning the learning process. Speakers include NYC CTO Minerva Tantoco, CSNYC Director Michael Preston, CS4All director Debbie Marcus, Joan Freese of PBS SciGirls, and Girls Make Games founder Laila Shabir.

Learn how to make games for social impact at a workshop or connect with industry leaders and fellow attendees at speed networking, parties, and the Marketplace, where a dozen innovative companies and game studios will demo new platforms and products.
